When God Ran

My friend shared this song with me recently. These words brought tears to me eyes. If only everyone could see God this way. This song was a much needed reminder that failing doesn't stop God from loving me. The song is called "When God Ran" and I suggest you listen to Shaded Red's version.

Almighty God, the great I Am
Immovable rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome lord
Victorious warrior commanding kind of kings, mighty conqueror

And the only time, the only time I ever saw Him run
Is when He ran to me, took me in his arms
Held my head to his chest, said my son's come home again
Looked at my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in his voice he said son, do you know I still love you
It caught me by surprise, brought me to my knees
When God ran

The day I left home, I knew I had broken his heart
I wondered then if things could ever be the same
Then one night, I remembered his love for me
And down that dusty road ahead I could see

(chorus)

I saw Him run to me
It caught me by surprise
Brought me to my knees
When God ran

You may wonder who I am, well I got into your blog through Anna(Create in me!) who posted a comment on mine........

There is a book that talks about this wonderful love of God. "The Return of the Prodigal Son, by Henry Nouwen" If you ever have an opportunity to read it, I know you would like it.This author describes the love of God the Father running to embrace the son. I was a prodigal son for many years in my life, then I decided to go back home with my Father. I saw Him running to me even though I was dirty, even though I hurt his heart so much, even though I denied Him. He didn't care about that" He ran to me, took me in his arms, held my head to his chest, said my son's come home again. Looked at my face, wiped the tears from my eyes with forgiveness in his voice he said, do you know I still love you" Your post made me cry, it made me remember the day He embraced me back.

Nothing like sharing a little blogger love. (I think I read the book he is talking about too! If that's the one I would recommend it as well.)

This was a wonderful post, there is really nothing that compares to our Abba's embrace! His love is the only love that will never fail us and that is a great comfort. :)

Thanks for sharing!
